This years Bognor Regis 10k road race has been completed and I am proud to say I broke my personal best, completing the course in 41 minutes and 42 seconds. I finished in 82nd place in a total field of 1490 entrants.
As you are aware all the efforts this year are directed towards raising awareness of the importance of increasing the number of blood donors. Currently, it stands at only 4% of the population which is very low.
In my life I have donated 5 pints of blood, all prior to my illness. Whilst in Kings College Hospital, London, I received 6 bags of blood platelets (equivalent to 6 pints of blood). This means I have received more blood than I have given and feel I am in debt.
Regretably, due to my illness, I am now not allowed to give blood anymore. The only way I know to repay this debt is to do everything I can to encourage everyone to become a blood donor.
Please save a life as soon as you can. Thank you.
